A Real Father is a Loving Father
Ask yourself, am I loving my children the way God has intended? Am I demonstrating the love that a REAL father should? Love from a REAL father is:
1. A Real father is patient.
As a father you should allow your children the opportunity to make mistakes and grow from their errors. Give them the same latitude that you give yourself when you make mistakes.
2. A Real father is kind.
As a father your words and actions should build your children up and not tear them down. They should rejoice at your presence and have confidence when they are around you. They should be glad to be around you and be excited to see you. When things go wrong in their lives, they should know that you will provide an encouraging word that will lift them up to greatness and not drag them down to defeat.
3. A Real father is a protector.
As a father your children should be confident to know that you have their backs in any circumstance. Your loyalty to them should never waiver, regardless of your relationships, finances or situations. Protect them at the highest level through pray and be there when they face their toughest hour.
4. A Real father is trusting.
As a father trust and believe in your children. Create an environment that allows them to make decisions and give them input in their lives for guidance. Lead them in the correct through your actions and they will not depart.
5. A Real father is hopeful.
As a father we should always be optimistic about the outcomes of your children's lives. This hope may require you to shift your expectations. This hope may require you to change your thinking about what you want for your children. However, your faith in God will allow you to have the confidence to know that everything will turn out the way it should. Our alignment with God is our insurance for your children.
6. A Real father always perseveres.
As a father we must never give up on our children. It is our responsibility to guide them in the right direction. If they fail, help them to identify the area of growth and provide the support they need to be successful. Don't let them give up and don't let yourself give up on them.
7. A Real father's love never fails.
In the end, they may forget what gifts you gave them or what you have accomplished in your lifetime. However, they will never forget how you treated them. Do everything in love!
In closing remember fathers do as God says and remember that love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
1 Corinthians 13:4-5

Yes, you are a real father to your children. Keep the love and guidance flowing!
