Introduction to I am a real father

Image
Hey Everyone, As I sit quarantined in my home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I got the idea that I should start a blog about being a father from my perspective.  I want to begin by saying that I am no expert in the business of fathering , however, I have experienced a lot in the 10 years that God has allowed me to be a father to Nia and Noah.  I really have acquired a skill set that has allowed me to build a loving relationship with my children. In this blog, I will share my experiences and provide any insights that God has given me at that moment.  Hopefully, I will be transparent, honest and knowledgeable in a way that will be a blessing to someone else and help them to support their children to reach their destiny.  Please feel free to comment and provide topics that you want me to talk about.  Let's make this fun and informative for everyone. A Father's Fulfillment to His Son and The Impact

Image
A strong father-son relationship is more than just a bond; it’s a cornerstone of a child’s development and a pillar for a father’s fulfillment. This unique connection shapes a boy’s understanding of manhood, character, and identity. For fathers, it offers a profound opportunity to influence, mentor, and support their sons through the trials and triumphs of growing up. A healthy father-son relationship fosters emotional security, confidence, and resilience in sons, providing them with a solid foundation to navigate the complexities of life. It also enriches fathers’ lives, deepening their sense of purpose and satisfaction. Whether through shared activities, open conversations, or simply being present, investing in this relationship lays the groundwork for mutual growth, lifelong memories, and a legacy of love and respect.   Growing up in North Memphis, I never got an opportunity to experience this from my father. As an advocate for fathers, I believe it is important tha...

A Real Father is a Loving Father

Image
As a father, we must be many things.  We are often leaders, cheerleaders, disciplinarians, attorneys, teachers and protectors. In all these roles our children are our focus.  If we are to be all these things to our children, we must be real , but we must also be loving.  1 Corinthians 13 is how a father should be to his children and not only his spouse.   You cannot be a REAL father without loving your children effectively.  If you apply the principles of 1 Corinthians 13 to your parenting, the benefits that God has for you and your children will be manifested for all to see. Ask yourself, am I loving my children the way God has intended?  Am I demonstrating the love that a REAL father should?  Love from a REAL father is: 1. A Real father is patient. As a father you should allow your children the opportunity to make mistakes and grow from their errors.  Give them the same latitude that you  give yourself when you make mistakes. ...

Door of Love from a REAL Father

To love as a REAL father is to make your heart a revolving door.                                                                                                   Antonio T. Harvey As I reflect on the quote above, I ponder about the first door of love that I walked through, as a child.  The door I walked through as a child swung back and forth very actively.  On the other side of that door, always stood my mother Theresa G. Isom.  She has held that door for me a very long time, through my infancy as a young mother she had the courage and determination to have a child.  In my youth, she allowed me to grow up in a positive household and upheld a strong standard of morality.  She never allowed me to see her dealing ...
